Two modes for two ways to play
Unveiled in China alongside the REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ smartphone, the monitor is built around dual-mode operation. The manufacturer claims 180 Hz at 5K and 330 Hz at 2K, specifications also included in ITheat’s report.
The idea is to prioritise image detail in some games, then refresh rate in fast-paced titles. This trade-off does not mean the monitor displays 5K at 330 Hz: the two figures refer to separate modes.
The diagonal size and exact pixel resolution are not specified in the material consulted. It is therefore better to retain the announcement’s 5K and 2K labels rather than assign an unconfirmed detailed resolution to them.
More than 5,000 backlight zones
REDMAGIC highlights 5,184 independently controlled zones. MiniLED still works by dividing the backlight into regions: it can darken some parts of the image while keeping bright elements elsewhere.
The number of zones alone does not measure HDR quality, however. Backlight control, transitions and possible halos around bright objects also need to be assessed. These are testing criteria, not results that can be inferred from a specification sheet.
The manufacturer also announces technology designed to improve motion clarity. The chassis is aluminium and features a transparent window on the back. VideoCardz reports a claimed HDR peak brightness of 1,400 nits, which remains a manufacturer figure that our editorial team has not measured.
A Chinese launch, with no French schedule
The announced Chinese price is 6,499 yuan, equivalent to €869. VideoCardz points to a December 2026 launch; the sources consulted announce neither availability nor pricing for France.
A currency conversion would not constitute a European retail price: taxes, distribution and warranty terms can significantly alter the final price.
The full specification sheet still needs to detail connectivity and the requirements for accessing both modes. This information will be particularly useful for understanding how to make use of the resolution and refresh rate with a given system.

Key takeaways
With its two 5K/180 Hz and 2K/330 Hz modes, REDMAGIC is making an ambitious proposition. Full specifications, European availability and test results are still needed to judge actual display quality.
