Monitoring built into the PSU
According to Corsair, PinProtect individually monitors the six pins carrying 12 V to the graphics card. If excessive current persists beyond the specified threshold, it limits power to the connector and triggers a protective GPU shutdown. No software configuration is required.
This adds protection, but correct cable connection remains essential. The manufacturer asks users to switch the system off completely and check connections after a trigger.
Platinum and a ten-year warranty
The RM1200e is fully modular, Cybenetics Platinum-certified and specified as ATX 3.1 compliant, with a depth of 150 mm. Corsair plans black and white versions, a ten-year warranty and a European launch price of €194.90.
Electrical protection, not a guarantee against every incident
PinProtect monitors current imbalance across the relevant pins. This differs from simply measuring total PSU power: a connector's load can be uneven even when overall consumption seems acceptable. Corsair does not present it as a substitute for a properly inserted cable.
PSU choice should also consider required connectors, the case and acoustics. Efficiency certification and the stated 1,200 W do not reveal actual system noise. No Hardware Reference laboratory test is presented here: specifications and PinProtect operation are as announced by Corsair.

Key takeaways
When choosing a PSU, available power should match the configuration. A 1,200 W model does not make a computer faster by itself. Here, the main point to examine is the protection's behaviour and integration, alongside efficiency, noise and electrical quality.
